True Magic
Tony peeked out from behind the curtain, staring at the audience. When he’d told his agent he’d take any sorts of gigs, he hadn’t expected to be a part of a group sent to Kuwait to entertain guys who’d been injured fighting in Iraq. Tony wasn’t old enough to remember the last war they’d been in—Vietnam.
But he was a go with the flow kinda guy, and since quitting school a couple years ago after wrecking his knee, his amateur magician career had taken off,. It wasn’t what Tony had ever expected, but in a strange way, it was working out for him. He had more money than he knew what to do with, and he was good—damn good. The sky was the limit.
He let his eyes track over the crowd, and he couldn’t help but stare at one guy who was scowling, his leg propped up. There was something about him that kept drawing Tony’ eye. He wanted to see what the guy would look like when smiling. And he vowed to make that happen.
As he was announced, Tony swept onstage in a dramatic manner that made him feel a little silly. He immediately focused in on the man in the front row as he began his introduction and did two simple tricks.
The man’s eyes narrowed and his hands gripped the arms of his wheelchair. Tony was losing him! He mentally rearranged his lineup and jumped down off the small stage. “And for my next trick, I need an assistant. You’ll be perfect,” he said, gripping the other man’s hand. As the injured Marine started to pull away, he met Tony’s eyes.
True magic sparked between them, and Tony swore he saw his destiny looking back at him.

And love the spontaneous change in his trick line up. Gibbs won't know what hit him.
