Vacation from Hell

“I’m in hell,” Gibbs muttered, looking out at the deserted highway. As if it wasn’t bad enough that his father and Senior had come on his and Tony’s trip—hell, they’d organized it. As if it wasn’t bad enough that he was stuck in a motor home with the bickering seniors and Tony, who was beside himself with excitement.

As if all that wasn’t bad enough, they’d broken down. On a deserted highway. In an area with no cell service, and more than twenty miles outside the nearest town. And no cars had passed in the last two hours. Gibbs and Tony had studied the engine and determined the situation was pretty dire. There was no way Gibbs could work up an easy solution. They were stuck here until someone else passed. Gibbs had badly sprained an ankle chasing a suspect and Tony’d busted a few ribs a couple days ago on the same case. There was no way Gibbs would let their fathers walk a long distance, so they were stuck for now.

And as Senior and Tony burst into another rendition of “Hit the Road, Jack,” Gibbs tried not to get frustrated. This was supposed to be a vacation, after all. Even if it was the vacation from hell.
