Chase Rittenhouse watched as Merc, his newfound mate, slept fitfully, tossing and turning, a fine sheen of perspiration making his chest glisten. And Chase’s mouth water. After He and Merc had come—more than once for baby shifter—Merc had settled into a lassitude that was a near doze. Chase had muscled him to his bedroom, following barely coherent muttered directions, and dropped Merc into bed. The other man had just collapsed and stilled, and it was a little disconcerting for Chase.

Merc had been sleeping a couple of hours now, his body raging hot, the mating or his newfound shifter abilities running roughshod over his not-quite-mortal body. Chase wasn’t sure which was impacting Merc more. In any event, Chase had sat through enough new shifts that he knew when to be worried, and when not to be.

Even though this seemed pretty serious, it was nothing more than a blip on a shifter radar. Of course, the change usually happened when a shifter was a teen, and hormonal rushes kept a lot of the discomfort at bay. Still, Merc was a big strong guy and he could handle the stress of the change. In fact, he’d be asleep for most of the changes, or at least Chase hoped so. An adult shifter going through the change was something Chase hadn’t experienced before. He wasn’t sure how this would impact Merc on a physiological level, how his more mature bones would manage to reform when he took his animal shape, what sort of changes might be wrought on a fully mature brain.

It should take some time for the changes to make their way through Merc’s system, which would allow Chase to try to figure this all out. What it meant—and how they fit together. Why Merc hadn’t seemed to know. All the pressing questions that didn’t have easy answers.

Hurricane Sandy slapped us pretty hard here in Northern VA. We had several hours of very bad rainand wind and several Omg heart in throat bangs that shook the house. We never lost power and visual inspections inside and out don't show any damage at all. We're very lucky.

My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone impacted by this monster storm! Please check in if you're in the affected areas!

Since I’m away for part of this week and early next, I thought I’d get the jump on September prompts!

**If there is demand, I'm more than willing to add a few more prompt spots.**

Original fic prompts welcome, but nothing in the Ronan and Steel verse please. I'm trying to settle the arc there and would like to keep this post for "fun" rather than "work" writing :)

Tell me knowing me, a few paragraphs, a page, or a promise of a much longer fic Lol!a story I haven’t written, and I will give you 1-3 sentences from or about it. Or,

This will be a link to the master post. I’m also going to do weekly update posts. The best way to follow along is to track or bookmark the post and check for updates. Each story will have a title and a link at the top of the page, that should lead you right to the comment.

For September, I’m going to try something different. 2 prompts per person, 20 spots open. Additionally, there will be 10 extra prompts that are designed JUST for sequels to existing prompts, one shots, etc. These, too, will be limited to 2 prompts per person but they do NOT count toward your prompt total.

So you can claim 2 new prompts and 2 sequel prompts for 4 total, but you can’t claim 4 new posts or 3 sequels and 1 new prompt.

A few rules.


I'll write NCIS, It Takes a Thief, Chicago Hope, light crossovers with various shows/book series (send me a PM or just prompt and I'll yea or nay you).

No rape fic, no child abuse, no promptor insertion fics, no overt physical/emotional abuse by hero character. No sequels to other people's stories. No sneak peeks of commissioned fics or new chapters of existing WIPS. No duplicate or very similar prompts. No characters having sexual and/or romantic bonds with anyone under 18. No RPF/RPS. No obviously OOC characters.

Please make sure prompts are simple and easy to meet in a few hundred words. If your prompt is a paragraph or more longer, or has many plot points, it isn't likely to be able to be met in this format.

Het, gen, slash prompts welcome. AU, paranormal welcome. Just please no Tony/Ziva or Gibbs/Jenny. These aren't pairings I'm able to write. Please no wildly OOC prompts. No pregnancy or MPREG prompts, no crossdressing.
