Happy holidays!
This year has been a hard one for many of us, myself included. As finances and life pressures mount, it is hard to keep a positive attitude. Escapes are most welcomed in times like these.
I don’t think it is any secret that my escape is writing. It has been for a long time. And in the spirit of the holidays, I wanted to combine my escape and the spirit of giving.
My job requires me to telecommute, so I share my workday with my wonderful cats. Seven years ago, I became aware of a pet rescue that focused on saving the lives of discarded and no longer wanted cats of the Bengal breed. Some of these are cats that were too much for their owners to handle, others are the innocent victims of a family’s divorce or financial hardship, or an owner’s illness or death, others were surrendered because they became old or had special needs. And some were just abandoned with no reason given.
I’ve adopted two wonderful cats from the organization and have helped out in transporting pets whenever time and circumstances allow. The organization is purely volunteer, and like many, it has felt the impact of the economy very keenly.
Bengals are wonderfully social cats and mine keep me on my toes. They’re not only beautiful visually, with incredibly soft fur, they’re intelligent conversationalists that keep me from feeling too isolated or lonely.
As a tribute and a thanks to this organization that works so tirelessly to save as many of these cats, I’m channeling my holiday energies to it.
From Nov 25-January 2, I’ll be accepting requests for custom fanfiction stories for a donation to the Bengal Rescue Network. They are a 501c3 non-profit organization and accept donations via Paypal.
I bet you’re asking how this will work.
When you make a donation to the Bengal Rescue Network via Paypal, make sure you put in the description field TaylorGibbs’ 2009 Holiday Drive. You can donate any amount. Trust me, any amount helps.
When your payment has gone through, send me a copy of your receipt, blacking out your personal information, but showing the donation level, making sure the Bengal Rescue Network and the description field shows. At that point, you and I will coordinate your fiction needs. You can be as specific or general as you’d like. Minimum word counts will be determined by donation levels, but I may very well write a much longer story. The story will be dedicated to you, though I’ll retain distribution rights.
All stories should be completed before March 1, though this date could shift if there is enough interest.
I’ll write NCIS or CSINY crossovers with NCIS. Gen, het, slash are all welcomed. Any pairing except Tiva. Any rating. I can’t write the characters as criminals, or as teens/high school students, but otherwise, nearly anything goes. You can be as specific or as general with your requests as you wish to be. A one word prompt is as welcomed as a specific prompt, but please give me room to put my stamp on it as well.
Donation values for minimum fic word counts are as follows, in US Dollars or as approximate as your currency conversion software allows.
$5.00 will get you a 250 word drabble
$10.00 will get a minimum 500 word fic
$15.00 will get a minimum 1000 word fic
$20.00 will get a minimum 2500 word fic
$25.00 will get a minimum 5000 word fic
$35.00 will get a minimum 10,000 word fic
$45.00 will get a minimum 15,000 word fic
$50.00 will get a minimum 20,000 word fic
If you’re interested in making a larger donation, email me and we’ll discuss word counts!
I wish you every happiness this holiday season!
