Senior's Secret

4. sunsaralyn NCIS: Senior finds something important and goes to share it with his son.

Tony walked into the upscale restaurant and looked at his watch. His father had told him to meet him here for dinner, but he’d been cryptic, sounding serious and grave, very unlike him.

And Tony was worried.

He’d had Abby check the databases in the USA and Europe, to see if anything major had gone down that his father might have been involved in. It didn’t sound good, but his father always painted a positive face on things. As his father had said, Anthony DiNozzo senior never advertised his failures.

Tony didn’t want to think of it being personal and not business. What if Dad was sick…or worse.

Tony was led to a table and ordered a beer, sipping it slowly as he waited for his father, and whatever news he had. He was deep in thought when his father’s voice boomed across the quiet restaurant.

Tony jumped to his feet just as his father came into view.

With a little boy.

A sulky little boy who was staring at the ground.

“Junior,” he said, his smile too wide and eyes a little wild. He clasped Tony by the shoulders, and Tony could feel the small trembles racking his father.

“Dad?” he said in an undertone, but his father gave him a warning look.

“Junior, I’d like you to meet someone.” His father reached over, placing a hand firmly on the boy’s shoulder. “This is Andrew. He’s—”

“Daddy, I’m hungry,” the little boy whined, looking up at Tony’s father.

Daddy? Daddy?!?

Tony looked at his father, wide eyed, wondering where to begin. What could he ask with the kid right here? “You want something stronger than that?” his father asked, his voice tense as he gestured at Tony’s beer.

“Will I need it?’

“Its going to be a long night, Junior.” His father paused, taking in a huge breath and exhaling slowly. “Andrew, this is your older brother, Tony.”

“Hi, Junior,” Andrew said, flashing a smile so like his—their?—father’s.

“Scotch. Make it a double. And start talking, Dad.”
