I've noticed a lessening of replies--would it help if I did a weekend catch-up post? I may try that tomorrow and see :) (ETA: Weekend post is added :)

Okay!! All I have left are bonuses, which I'll be doing gradually in their own posts, so I'm opening up a mini August meme. This (and early Sept.) should be my last crazy times--no more trips for several months after my very next trip--thank GOD.

Original fic prompts welcome, but nothing in the Ronan and Steel verse please. I'm trying to settle the arc there and would like to keep this post for "fun" rather than "work" writing :)

Tell me a story I haven’t written, and I will give you 1-3 sentences from or about it. Or, knowing me, a few paragraphs, a page, or a promise of a much longer fic Lol!

A few rules.


I'll write NCIS, It Takes a Thief, Chicago Hope, light crossovers with various shows/book series (send me a PM or just prompt and I'll yea or nay ya).

No rape fic, no child abuse, no promptor insertion fics, no overt physical/emotional abuse by hero character. No sequels to other people's stories. No sneak peeks of commissioned fics. No duplicate or very similar prompts. No characters having sexual and/or romantic bonds with anyone under 18. No RPF/RPS. No obviously OOC characters.

Please make sure prompts are simple and easy to meet in a few hundred words. If your prompt is a paragraph or more longer, or has many plot points, it isn't likely to be able to be met in this format.

Het, gen, slash prompts welcome. AU, paranormal welcome. Just please no Tony/Ziva or Gibbs/Jenny. These aren't pairings I'm able to write. Please no wildly OOC prompts. No pregnancy or MPREG prompts, no crossdressing.

If a prompt isn't working for me and/or blocks me, I reserve the right to ask you for a substitute prompt.

Gibbs hadn’t been expecting the gift certificate to the high-end place, but he’d accepted it. In the wake of the bombing, he’d been the recipient of a lot of gifts, and he’d learned to take the gifts graciously. The wine and bourbon had gone to the team, or Jack, but this gift certificate was for his favorite steak place, and he hadn’t been able to resist.

He’d asked Ducky to come along with him—even though Duck couldn’t eat steak any more, the place had shrimp and fish. And Gibbs wanted to spend some time with his friend. With Palmer as acting ME, and Ducky working only as a consultant until he got back on his feet, Gibbs hadn’t seen a lot of his friend.

Ducky’d agreed, though he’d turned down Gibbs’ offer to pick him up. And Gibbs, aware of Ducky’s independence, agreed to meet his friend there.

Gibbs arrived at nineteen hundred on the dot, and was led to a very quiet table in the corner. He sat facing the door and ordered a bourbon for himself, and some water for Ducky. The environment—the quiet music, dim lighting, low hum of conversation—started to work on his stress levels, and Gibbs found his shoulders unclenching.

“Boss? I thought Ducky…”

Gibbs’ head snapped up and he looked into Tony’s eyes, just as his phone chimed. Gibbs fumbled with it, squinting as a test message from Palmer came in.

Ducky said to tell you to have a good dinner. I’m treating him to some shrimp. He says to enjoy yourself.

DiNozzo’s phone chimed just as Gibbs closed his.

“Cagey bastard,” DiNozzo muttered, a blush staining his cheeks.

“What?”

“We’re tired of you two dancing around. Have a good dinner. Don’t be stupid, Tony.” He shook his head. “It’s from Abbs.”

Gibbs chuckled and angled his head, motioning to the empty seat.

“You have anything to do with this?”

“No, Boss. I swear! Someone set us up.”

Gibbs knew DiNozzo well, and that level of surprise wasn’t faked. “Someones,” he replied, emphasizing that more than one person had been involved. “Sit down, enjoy. Might as well make the most of it.”

“Thanks, Boss,” Tony said with a small smile, and Gibbs caught his breath, arousal creeping in. He’d banked it for so long, had rammed it down. And almost losing DiNozzo a few months ago had shaken him badly.

Deeply.

It was time to stop screwing around.

“Thank you,” Gibbs muttered, but he wasn’t talking to DiNozzo as much as he was the team.
